I Just Wanted a Drink
It was an old-school rock concert, and with about 20 minutes until showtime, I decided to grab a drink. Four beverage stations were open, each staffed by two bartenders. The lines were already more than 30 people deep. Eight bartenders. More than 120 people waiting. Twenty minutes until the music started.
I remember looking at those lines and wondering how many people would actually get served before the show began. The bartenders were working hard. But there was only so much they could do within the traditional beverage service process.
And that's when I started thinking about Sipperz.
I'd already spent considerable time developing the product, but standing in that concert venue, I saw an opportunity to take it in an exciting new direction. What if Sipperz could help high-volume venues serve more guests in less time?
The possibilities went well beyond that concert.
Stadiums. Festivals. Casinos. Hotels. Entertainment venues. Entire industries where beverage service speed could make a measurable difference to both the guest experience and the bottom line.
That night, my vision for Sipperz expanded far beyond what I'd originally imagined.
What If We Changed the Equation?
I kept thinking about those lines long after the concert. Not because people were waiting for drinks. That's nothing new. What stayed with me was how much effort it took to serve a crowd in such a short amount of time.
The bartenders could only work so fast. The lines could only move so quickly. And once the music started, some of those people would simply give up and walk away. I know. I was one of them.
I gave up waiting and found a vending machine where I could grab a bottle of water.
But the experience stayed with me. What if the process itself could change? What if getting a drink didn't have to take so long? What if a venue could serve more people without needing more bartenders, more equipment, or more space?
The more I thought about it, the more possibilities I saw.
And that's when I realized it wasn't just about the drink. It was about everything that happens between someone wanting a drink and actually getting one.
